We’ll be kicking off with a big bang this year when we return to the Mackay Showgrounds for our opening event.

It all starts with the creation of fire by the award winning aboriginal dancers of Bundjalong Kunjeil, followed by Mackay’s very own Bobcat Ballet directed by Angela Chaplin. The Bobcat Ballet features some of Mackay’s best blue collar operators as they provide an awe inspiring act of bravery, stunts and surprises. In addition to this iconic event there will be a cavalcade of vintage farm machinery, muscle cars, champion cheer leaders and the haunting music of Stephen Rosenberg to excite
the audience. The showground pavilions will then come alive as festival artists alongside Sensory Circus, the Viper Syndicate and many other community groups create their own temporary homes to perform for your enjoyment.
