Blessed with super-model looks, fabulous legs and a glamorous 1.8m stature, Rhonda Burchmore has spent her entire life dazzling audiences with her precision-perfect dance steps, commanding stage presence, superb comic timing, effervescent personality, and most of all, that stunning voice.
Rhonda’s latest show, Legs 11, is a feel-good, musical biography of 25 years in the spotlight, set to a inspiring and fascinating backdrop of songs and stories that shaped her childhood, adolescence, early career and recent times.
Rhonda shares the journey; from the makeshift dance studio her dad built on the veranda of the family home, to her first ‘disastrous’ television appearance on the Mike Walsh Show at the age of nine, to the school eisteddfods where she honed her love of performing, to Her Majesty’s Theatre in Sydney and London’s West End.
As a young girl growing up in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, Rhonda never imagined that one day she would share the stage with stars such as Mickey Rooney, Ann Miller, Eddie Bracken and Anthony Newley.
“Even to this day I sometimes can’t quite believe it, but that’s showbiz,” says Rhonda, “and anything can happen.”
Over the past 25 years, Rhonda’s stage credits have grown to cover an amazingly diverse array of the world’s best musicals and shows.
In her Legs 11 repertoire, she has included songs from some of the favourite shows she has starred in, including Sugar Babies, Hot Shoe Shuffle, Stop The World I Want To Get Off, Annie Get Your Gun, Guys & Dolls, Into The Woods, Mame, The Drowsy Chaperone and Mamma Mia.
Songs include Birth of the Blues, What Kind Of Fool Am I, The Last Man In My Life, Dancing Queen, Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend, Shakin' The Blues Away, Fever, and many more.
More than just a music performance, in Legs 11 Rhonda sings and dances her way through each chapter of her amazing career and takes a light-hearted look at the sometimes serious side of show business.
