Friends of the Theatre was established in 1987 when the Mackay Entertainment Centre was nearing completion.
Today, with the Convention Centre extension, volunteers of the Centre are referred to as Friends of MECC.
The Friends of MECC staff key areas of the Centre which include door attending, front-of-house management, program selling and the collation of mail outs.
You can become a member of either group and take advantage of the many benefits available.
Membership is made up of two major groups:
> Volunteer/Working Members
> Supporting/Non Working Members
Thanks to the generosity of these volunteers who give so much of their time, our Centre is considered one of the most successful and vital theatres in Australia.
